Planning Commission

The Lawrence Township Planning Commission consists of 7 appointed members who represent the diverse interests of the township, including:

  • Lakefront property owners

  • Farming and agricultural stakeholders

  • Residential and commercial property owners

  • Industrial representatives

  • Local schools

Commission Responsibilities

The Planning Commission plays a vital role in guiding the growth and development of Lawrence Township. Its responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and recommending land use plans

  • Proposing zoning ordinance changes

  • Approving site plans for new development

  • Holding public hearings for zoning and development proposals

  • Advising the Township Board on planning matters

These efforts ensure that township growth is consistent with the Township Master Plan and reflects the needs and values of the community.

 

Meeting Schedule

Planning Commission meetis quarterly on the 4th Tuesday of the first month of each quarter April 22, 2025, July 22, 2025, October 28, 2025 and January 27, 2026), 5:00 pm at the Lawrence Township Hall. Meetings are open to the public and include opportunities for resident input on planning and zoning issues.
 

Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed.

New Village Playground Project

Lawrence Joint Parks and Recreation is planning a vibrant, inclusive playground in the Village of Lawrence—a joyful space for children and families to gather and play. A $302,000 fundraising campaign is underway to help secure a DNR matching grant for construction.
