Elections in Lawrence Township

Lawrence Township is committed to ensuring open, accessible, and transparent elections for all eligible voters in our community. Residents are encouraged to stay informed, register early, and participate in each election cycle.

 

Voting in Michigan

Michigan residents can participate in local, state, and federal elections throughout the year. Township elections typically include:

  • Township Board elections

  • Local millage proposals

  • County, state, and federal offices

  • School board and ballot initiatives

Elections are administered in accordance with State of Michigan election law and all results are certified through the Van Buren County Clerk’s Office.

 

Township Clerk’s Role

The Township Clerk serves as the official election administrator for Lawrence Township. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining accurate voter registration records

  • Preparing and securing ballots

  • Overseeing polling location logistics

  • Processing absentee ballot applications

  • Posting and publishing election notices

 

Absentee Voting

Absentee voting is available to all registered voters. During election seasons, residents may request an Absentee Voter Ballot Application in one of the following ways:

Leave your full name, phone number, and mailing address when requesting an application.

 

Important Reminders

  • You must be registered to vote in Lawrence Township to receive a ballot.

  • Make sure your voter registration is current if you’ve moved or changed your name.

  • Ballots must be received by the deadline on Election Day to be counted.

  • Public accuracy testing of voting equipment is conducted prior to each election and is open to the public.
