The Lawrence Township Board of Review (BOR) is responsible for reviewing property tax assessments and hearing appeals from residents who believe their assessed value is incorrect or unfair. The Board also considers qualified exemption requests and corrections to the assessment roll as allowed by law.
The Board of Review may:
Hear assessment appeals from property owners
Consider poverty exemption applications
Correct clerical errors or mutual mistakes of fact
Adjust taxable values as permitted under state law
The Board operates under the authority granted by the Michigan General Property Tax Act (PA 206 of 1893).
In accordance with state statute, the Board of Review meets three times per year:
March BOR – Formal appeal hearings on property assessments
July BOR – Corrections of clerical errors and poverty exemptions
December BOR – Corrections of qualified errors and certain exemptions
All meetings are held at Lawrence Township Hall, 411 N Paw Paw St, Lawrence, MI 49064.

Property owners wishing to appeal their assessment or apply for an exemption must complete and submit the appropriate forms prior to the Board of Review meeting.
